MTC has provided the construction materials testing for the $25 million North End Zone addition to Spartan Stadium on Michigan State University’s campus where Barton Malow is the Construction Manager. The two story, 51,000 sf addition includes new locker rooms for the 2014 Rose Bowl Champion football team and offices for the athletic department in the lower level while the second level will house the new recruiting room and additional offices. This also included renovations within the existing stadium locker rooms and offices. MTC monitored the installation of the soldier pile and lagging in addition to the augercast tangent pile earth retention up to 18 feet tall near the existing structure. Our testing and inspection services included monitoring of the pile load tests, grout, foundation subgrade soils, concrete, soil density, steel erection, and masonry.
