At an estimated cost of $60 million the South Quad addition has renovated approximately 106,700 square feet of space on the ground floor and first floor of the nine story residence hall. The update has expanded student dining facilities, updated bathrooms and created new spaces – including group study spaces, music practice rooms and refurbished lounges. The addition included the construction of two-story additions to both the front and back of the building. The south addition included two levels below grad to support the chiller plant and HVAC upgrades. A cooling tower is being constructed at the roof level requiring additional piping throughout the building. MTC provided daily on-site testing and inspection services on the project consisting of subgrade soils, concrete, soil density, masonry, steel, fireproofing, roofing, anchor bolts and waterproofing.
